German Speaking Congregation in Scotland: Edinburgh

The present-day German-speaking congregation in Edinburgh dates back to 1947. Edinburgh is now the hub for the “extended parish” of Scotland and North-east England, and the minister for the region resides here. Services usually take place on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, at Laudate Haus.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

For the break between the morning service at 11am (until ca. 12 noon) and the start of the AGM, there will be some lunch refreshments. We would appreciate any further contributions to the communal lunch. The AGM will also be streamed on Zoom, but not on YouTube.

Rhyme Time & Children's Book Sale

We will read a story, depending on the seasons, and sing German children’s songs together. Afterwards you can browse our German children’s books for sale. Those with children already at school are also welcome to just come for the books at around 10:45am.

Book Club with Liza & Matthias

The Book Club meets every two months in a relaxed atmosphere at Laudate Haus to discuss a selected book together. Anyone who speaks German is invited - whether a native speaker or at B2/C1 level. Our book for May: Hey Guten Morgen, wie geht es dir? by Martina Hefter. Led by: Liza Tobay (linguist and German as a foreign language teacher) and Pastor Matthias Kaffka. Registration required.
