Unlike congregations in Germany, the German protestant congregations abroad do not receive Church Tax contributions. The German Speaking Congregations of Scotland and North-east England are registered charities and rely entirely on voluntary membership fees and donations. Through your membership you help to ensure our survival, and are also guaranteed the right to vote at congregational assemblies meaning you can actively help to shape our congregational life.
Complete the relevant membership form for the congregation to which you would like to belong - Scotland or Newcastle - and send it to send the form to the treasurer. If you are a UK tax payer, we kindly ask you to also complete a Gift Aid Declaration. You can download the relevant forms further down on this page, or request them from one of our treasurers.
If you have any questions before deciding to register as a member, please don’t hesitate to contact our Pastor.
You decide the amount of your contribution, depending on your means. Nobody should be excluded from becoming a member because of their financial situation. Some members align their contributions to the amount of Church Tax applicable in Germany. Most existing membership contributions range from £40 per year to £40 per month.
Our dispersed congregation in Scotland includes the cities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Please note you don’t need to live within these three cities themselves, we also have members elsewhere in Scotland who join in with our congregational life.
