No.41 Bus Schedule

By Car

From outside Edinburgh, the easiest way to reach the German church by car is via the “Straiton Junction” on the City Bypass. Leave the bypass at this point and turn first left at the roundabout towards the “City Centre” (A701). Continue until you reach a small roundabout at the end of Liberton Road.
Take the second turning on the left (effectively straight on) into Craigmillar Park Road, and continue up through a series of traffic lights. Turn left into Grange Road where you see the new Scottish Library on your right. After about 500 m, turn right into Chalmers Crescent where you will find the German church at the other end of the road.

From the North

From the Forth Road Bridge, continue along the A90 towards “Edinburgh”, joining onto Queensferry Road just before the Barnton junction. Turn right at this junction onto Maybury Road and continue until it reaches the Maybury junction. Turn right and follow the signs for the “City Bypass” (A720). Once on the bypass, continue round until you see the exit marked “Straiton Junction”.

From the West

From the M8 motorway, continue to the end of the motorway until you come to a large roundabout (Hermiston Gait Junction). At the roundabout, take the third exit signposted “City Bypass” (A720). Continue until you reach the exit signposted “Straiton Junction”.

From the South/ East

From the A1, before you reach Edinburgh you will see a junction signposted for “City Bypass” (A720). Take this exit (first left) and follow the A720 northbound. At the first roundabout (Sheriffhall Junction), take the third turning and continue on the A720 until you reach the exit signposted “Straiton Junction”.

By Train

Waverley Station is Edinburgh’s major rail terminus, with services accessing Scotland (via Scotrail) and the rest of the UK (via GNER and Virgin Rail). From Waverley Railway Sation, the German church is a 20-30 minute walk.

If you are walking, leave the station via the exit ramp and turn left on Waverely Bridge. At the mini-roundabout, turn right up hill on to Market Street. At the end of the road, turn left and follow the main road (still up hill) until you get to a big cross-road. Keep straight ahead (along George IV Bridge), and where the road splits at the Bedlam Theatre (with the red door) keep right until you get to a set of traffi lights. Cross the traffic lights into the park ahead of you (The Meadows). Now just keep walking staight ahead down the middle of the Meadows, across the traffic lights, up Argyll Place and in to Chalmers Crescent. The German church is the first building on your right (after the garage).

If you prefer not to walk, the No. 41 bus leaves from the Mound. Just follow the instructions above, but when you reach the top of Market Street turn right instead of the left. The bus stop should be right in front of you. Take the bus to Warrender Park Road, and the German church is just round the corner.
